Room Reps serve as a liaison between teachers and families. These 1-2 grownups per classroom support teachers with various projects. The commitment varies by teacher and by grade, but the busier times are typically the initial setup of volunteer signups in the fall, holiday gifting, Teacher Appreciation Week in May, and end of year gift time. They also help with various projects including distributing PTO news to the class; recruiting volunteers for in-class opportunities; soliciting classroom supply donations; and other tasks as requested by the teachers.
If you are interested in developing a relationship with your student's teacher and classmates' families, and are interested in general volunteering, this is the job for you! And don't worry if you're new to Glover - we have a handbook to get you started, and this is a great way to meet people!
We are also adding a few new roles.
Grade Level Captains - to organize 1-2 casual class outings, communicate grade level reminders, & coordinate the stocking of the staff room
Specialist Rep - be a Room Rep like liaison to those who don't have a "homeroom" (interventionists, librarians, paras etc)
Please note that we will not be able to let Room Reps begin their communications until all PowerSchool Forms are filled out by all families in a class, so remind anyone you see.
